Course Overview
The accurate measurement of viscosity and consistency is integral to the efficient operation of many industrial processes. In this course, students will learn about different types of viscosity and consistency measurements. Students will calibrate consistency transmitters in the pulp blending lab.

Safety
- Demonstrate safe working practices in the lab.
Viscosity and Consistency
- Explain the principles of consistency and viscosity devices.
- Calibrate consistency and viscosity transmitters.
- Install consistency and viscosity transmitters.
- Service previously installed consistency and viscosity transmitters.
Pulp Blend
- Start up, operate and shut down a pulp blending process using the DeltaV DCS control system.
- Calculate the consistency of pulp samples.
Batch Control
- Complete a Batch Process (Kraft Digester) using the Foxboro I/A control systems.
