Course Overview
This course is designed to integrate and apply all the skills attained in prior Video Production and Editing Associate Certificate courses. Students will work on a self-directed project (or projects) guided by the instructor, from concept to finished video. Students will benefit from on-going consultation with the client to execute a video production - including planning, writing, story-boarding, shooting, editing, and final revisions to meet the client's needs.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Create a short project, documentary, promotional or educational video.
- Consult with a client to determine finished project expectations and goals.
- Plan a video production, including shooting and editing requirements and scheduling.
- Write a script for the chosen project.
- Develop a storyboard that shows the elements needed to support the story/message.
- Shoot video footage that captures the essence of the story/message.
- Create digital assets and graphics that enhance the story/message.
- Compose and/or mix audio elements that support the production.
- Edit video and audio to effectively communicate the story.
- Finesse the finished video project to meet client's needs and expectations.
- Prepare the finished video so it may be viewed on various formats, including social media platforms.

- Pre-requisites are needed to register. If the pre-requisites have not been completed, contact the Program Assistant, Gena_Peters@bcit.ca. You will require access to the Adobe Creative Cloud to complete this course - registered BCIT students will receive further information closer to the course start date with subscription details. This course is hybrid delivery – both synchronous online and in person classes. You will be expected to attend online and in person classes during the posted class meeting times as this is not a self-paced course. The in person classes will be held at the Downtown Campus on the following DATES: Apr 9, 16, 23, 30, May 7, Jun 4, 11, 18, 25. Prospective students should have solid written and spoken English language skills to be successful in this course. Basic computer operation knowledge is highly recommended, and students should have access to a home computer or laptop for completing assignments outside of class. Those enrolling in this course must demonstrate a keen interest in video editing. If seats remain, registration is permitted without approval up to April 22nd, by calling 604-434-1610.
