Course Overview
This course emphasizes clear, correct, concise technical communication in the electronics field. Students learn how to organize technical information, illustrate documents, define and describe technical objects, and write routine memos, letters, instructions, and an informal lab report. Students may also write a resume and application letter for Co-op, and give short, informative presentations to small groups. COMM 1146 covers the same content as COMM 1143 and has an extra language support component for students having difficulty with English.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion, the student will be able to:
- Plan and organize routine technical documents, including memos and letters.
- Write and design technical documents so they are clear and easy to read.
- Use basic graphic aids appropriately and correctly in technical documents.
- Write technical definitions, instructions and descriptions in the correct format.
- Write a lab report for one of the experimental courses in the program.
- Write a resume and a job application letter for Co-op.
- Present short, informative talks to a small group using visual aids to enhance the presentation.
