Course Overview
This course develops the skills necessary to be an efficient and professional communicator in the INC field. Building on the skills learned in the Technical Communication 1 for Industrial Network Cybersecurity course in the first term, this course prepares students for the formal report and oral presentation portion of the Culminating Project. Topics include how to: conduct an effective job search and write the accompanying resume, LinkedIn profile, and cover letter; develop strategies for persuasion and for delivering negative messages; and write an effective proposal, identify the parts of a formal report, and deliver an oral presentation. Students will practice teamwork skills and participate effectively in meetings and group work.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Write an effective LinkedIn profile, resume and cover letter. (3)
- Perform an informational interview (prepare and conduct). (3)
- Deliver an effective “elevator” pitch to use in networking. (4)
- Choose effective strategies for persuasion. (2)
- Write informal recommendation and progress reports. (4)
- Plan and develop a structure and outline for a formal report. (4)
- Explain proper citation methods to reference sources and avoid plagiarism. (2)
- Identify the elements of effective teamwork. (3)
- Present a persuasive oral presentation (choose persuasive strategies, prepare, and deliver). (4)
- Participate in meetings productively including giving and taking constructive feedback and handling negative messages. (3)
- Evaluate information to determine if it is accurate, relevant, and complete and use critical thinking to develop strong arguments. (4)
