Course Overview
A key responsibility for Conductors / Yard Foremen is to ensure that railcars are switched, picked up and set off safely and properly, and that these railcars are arranged in the correct sequence within the train (marshalling). This course will introduce learners to the basic concepts and principles used to ensure safe and efficient switching and marshalling.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion, the student will be able to:
- Demonstrate the use of a switching plan.
- Identify the use of the Canadian Rail Operating Rules (CROR) and other railway documents relative to switching operations.
- Describe the importance of marshalling railcars.
