Course Overview
Following on from SURV 1140, this course covers the application of vertical and horizontal angle measurements, together with distances, to compute elevations and coordinates; working with directions and bearings including use of magnetic compass. The total station, its calibration and use for horizontal and vertical traversing is introduced along with the calculation and adjustment of traverses. Several methods of area and volume computation are introduced. Introduction to GPS including handheld receivers.
