Course Overview
This course presents a customized statistics course, designed to introduce media students to the world of collecting, summarizing and treating data to facilitate its use and comprehension. Students will discuss forecasting techniques, along with measurement procedures employed in opinion and audience measurement systems. In addition, students will apply basic statistical methodologies to analyse and explain relevant, contemporary issues in media and society.

Learning Outcomes
At the end of this course the student will be able to:
- Apply basic statistical techniques including measures of central tendency and variation to solve relevant problems in industry.
- Differentiate between correct applications and blatant abuses of statistical reporting.
- Carry out a basic survey through questionnaire design and analysis.
- Analyze audience measurement on multiple platforms.
- Analyze opinion polling.
- Apply basic probability theory, including distribution, sampling and confidence intervals.
- Analyze web analytics.
- Apply basic forecasting techniques.
