Course Overview
This course focuses on the design aspects of solar water heating systems, and uses the RETScreen software for modelling systems. Other modelling software will be introduced. Participants will understand the common collector efficiency equations used, and the differences between them. Details of collector testing and certification will be reviewed. The course will cover the design principles for residential and commercial domestic hot water systems. Storage sizing, and its impact on system performance will be examined. Participants will be able to develop performance estimates for systems, and evaluate against economic and other criteria.
