Course Overview
This course is based on the IMO model course based on the amendments to the Safety of Life at Sea Convention (SOLAS). The course is taken from the requirements of the International Ship and Port Facility Security Code (ISPS Code). This course covers all the techniques and skills required to address the qualifications and duties of a Ship Security Officer as outlined in the ISPS Code.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion, the student will be able to:
- Undertake regular security inspections of the ship.
- Maintain and supervise the implementation of the Ship Security Plan.
- Coordinate the security aspects of the handling of cargo and ships stores.
- Propose modifications to the Ship Security Plan.
- Report deficiencies and non-conformities to the Company Security Officer.
- Enhance security awareness and vigilance on board.
- Ensure adequate training has been provided to shipboard personnel.
- Prepare report for all security incidents.
