Course Overview
Students will be introduced to anticyclones and other pressure systems; weather services for shipping; and weather forecasting and construction of synoptic and prognostic charts.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to:
- Define the formation of anticyclones.
- Describe other pressure systems encountered by mariners.
- Interpret a synoptic chart.
- Interpret a prognostic chart.
- Interpret symbols and isobaric patterns found on weather charts.
- Describe the role of WMO.
- Obtain weather reports from available sources.
- Forecast weather.
