Course Overview
This course is an introduction to the Canadian Rail Operating Rules (CROR) that governs federally regulated railway operations in Canada and the general procedures for authorities and record keeping. It describes how the CROR impacts major functions within railway operations and promote safe operations relative to the movement and handling of trains and engines across a rail system. Forms/reports/documents are essential for the operation of a railway, and learners will be taught how to complete and maintain different forms/reports.

Upon successful completion, the student will be able to:
PART A – RULES
- Justify the use of CROR and other related documents in operating a railway.
- Identify, locate, and explain applicable rules and regulations in the context of railway operations.
- Describe the procedures for complying with GBO.
- Describe the procedures for complying with clearances in OCS.
- Describe the procedures for complying with authorization forms.
PART B – RECORD KEEPING
- Justify the use of forms, records, and documents used on Canadian railways.
- Describe applicable forms, records, and documents used by Conductors in the performance of their duties.
