This course concentrates on selecting appropriate risk control techniques in the Canadian Risk environment, details how to implement the chosen techniques and options for monitoring the results for effective control and coordination of the organizations’ total risk management effort.

Upon successful completion, the student will be able to:
- Improve risk control efforts by learning to identify and contain root causes of loss.
- Demonstrate effectiveness of risk planning through development of scorecards to measure success.
- Help prepare the organization to more effectively recover from catastrophe by learning to design and implement disaster recovery plans.
- Increase participation in risk control programs through better understanding of staff motivation.

- This course meets the Risk Assessment and Treatment requirements of the Global Risk Management Institute (GRMI) / RIMS the Risk Management Society. Upon successful completion of the following 3 courses students can write the GRMI / RIMS final exams: RMGT 3710 (Risk Assessment), RMGT 4720 (Risk Control), and RMGT 4730 (Risk Financing). After successful completion of all 3 GRMI / RIMS final exams, they qualify for the Canadian Risk Management (CRM) designation (www.rims.org/education/professional-designations/crm/about).
