Course Overview
Students will visit series of communities within BC to discover the tourism potential of the area, inventory current tourism products and services, and evaluate the infrastructure and superstructure within the communities. Interaction with municipal/regional representatives, as well as tourism entrepreneurs and special interest groups will be involved. Field assignments and a learning journal, as well as infield participation with instructors, will form the evaluation on course completion. A supplementary fee will be payable for this course.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Develop effective public speaking skills by delivering oral presentations (individual and team) to audiences of diverse sizes.
- Describe differences in tourism potential based on geography and terrain; political and social (community) climate; product development; services; and infrastructure.
- Apply information from other courses to real-time experiences in the field.
- Identify trends in product development, customer demand and marketing strategies and tactics.
