Course Overview
This course is a continuation of Radiographic Procedures 1 and 2. Students will build on their core knowledge from previous courses and clinical practice. The focus is on specialized examinations of the skeleton and joints, cranium, thoracic cage, and trauma procedures. Students will also be provided with the theory of venipuncture and be provided with an opportunity to practice on simulators and each other. In addition, students will continue to build their skills in critiquing images for diagnostic and technical acceptability.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion, the student will be able to:
- Effectively communicate with patients and healthcare teams.
- Interpret physician requests for patient examinations.
- Describe course of action for determining pregnancy status and respond.
- Describe routine patient care prior, during, and post examinations; recognize and respond to non-routine concerns that may arise.
- Describe the influence of age on all examinations.
- Describe principles of beam geometry on body anatomy.
- Describe positioning to demonstrate the required body anatomy of the: a)cranium; b)BMD; c)contrast studies; d)joints and special studies of the skeleton; e)trauma; f)respiratory system; g)thoracic cage
- Adapt examinations to accommodate patient and equipment limitations.
- Evaluate radiographic images for image quality and diagnostic acceptability and apply corrective measures as required.
- Describe how to perform venipuncture in a safe manner.
- Describe common complications of venipuncture.
