Course Overview
Presents the first opportunity for students to work in a newsroom environment. The class is divided into small groups for personal instruction on operating newsroom equipment. This is followed by several weeks of practice where students function as reporters and anchors, gathering information, filing news stories, writing, and reading newscasts while honing their ability to use newsroom equipment.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Apply industry writing standards for news and sports
- Evaluate the content of news and sports stories for local, national and international coverage while building a lineup
- Write to deadline
- Collaborate with classmates to produce daily content.
- File audio stories within a collaborative newsroom environment.
- Conduct effective interviews for use in radio news and sports stories
- Demonstrate effective performance skills for news and sports anchoring
- Demonstrate knowledge of current events as part of story selection for daily news coverage
- Use radio newsroom software to build casts and file stories.
