Course Overview
This course will familiarize students with the necessary steps involved in implementing an interior design project. Students will learn all of the pertinent steps involved from a project management perspective to take a design project from a conceptual idea into a physical reality. This will include creating a time line for the project, preparing a budget. Students will understanding how to use the necessary standard forms to facilitate the management of an interior design project including the tendering process. Students will recognize the specific responsibilities and duties of the various consultants, contractors, sub-contractors, designers and clients. They will comprehend the necessity of conducting site visits, generating deficiency reports and undertaking post occupancy evaluations.

- 65% or better in Level 4A F/T INTD courses and COMM 2320.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion, the student will be able to:
- Schedule a critical path/timeline for a project.
- Provide budget estimates for project cost control.
- Explain the tender process and steps required for administrating the project during the construction and post occupancy stage.
- Implement revisions to an interior design project during the construction phase, using the correct forms and terminology.
- Explain how to co-ordinate with other consultants (i.e. electrical, mechanical etc).
- Recognize the role, liabilities and responsibilities of an interior designer within the project team, including architects, consultants, contractors and subtrades.
