This course presents an overview of the full scope of the development of an energy management project. The course provides a practical opportunity to bring together all the components of an energy management project learned in the Sustainable Energy Manager program by preparing an energy management project plan for a real business or building. Various project delivery methods, financing models and perspectives on gaining executive approval are explored.

- Compare, evaluate, and select various project delivery methods including traditional methods and performance contracts.
- Contrast the various financing alternatives for energy management projects.
- Outline the tension between capital budgets and operating expenses with respect to energy management projects.
- Differentiate between utility cost savings and avoided costs.
- Outline timeline and process for business case development in project development process.
- Differentiate between the role of project manager and construction manager.
- Prepare a communications plan for an energy management project.
- Create a measurement and verification plan for an energy management project.
- Contrast the four main approaches to measurement and verification in the International Performance Measurement & Verification Protocol.
- Assess baseline adjustments in evaluating project performance.
- Deliver an executive summary presentation for an energy management project that can be used to help demonstrate your abilities when marketing yourself for your future career.
