Course Overview
Covers the basic knowledge required to operate a programmable logic controller (PLC). Examines advantages of PLC's installation, hardware requirements, peripheral devices, system operation and hands-on programmable to relay replacement level using industry accepted software (Allen-Bradley RS Logix 5000).
Prerequisite(s)
- TELC 0130 – Basic Motor Control and/or successful completion of Electrical Apprenticeship Level 2 or 3 or 4 program within the last 5 years. Electrical Journeyperson certificate, electrical engineering degree and/or equivalent practical hands-on experience are also acceptable.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course the student will be familiar with the following:
- Configure PLC Hardware and Program parameters on RSLogix5000 programming software.
- Demonstrate the use of Communication Software RSLinx for Serial Cable communications.
- Recognize connections and wiring of Discrete Input and Output Devices.
- Configure and create Basic Ladder Logic programming for Discrete Inputs and Outputs.
