Course details
Successful completion of this course is one of the requirements for obtaining the Boiler Safety Awareness Certificate. This self-directed online course prepares candidates to write the Technical Safety BC Boiler Safety Awareness examination. At the end of the course, students will have gained a general knowledge of Acts, Codes and Regulations pertaining power plants as well as boilers, their associated systems and plant safety. Students completing the course are expected to be able to initiate safety shutdown procedures on the equipment. The course is delivered online following a self-paced format. Students are required to complete three computer based progress tests on their own and a final exam that is invigilated at BCIT. For students who do not reside in the Greater Vancouver area, final examination must be administered by an approved Proctor and is paper based.
