Course Overview
Through lectures, discussion, group projects and individual research, students will gain an understanding of: 1.How new products, services and product-service systems (PSSs) are developed from initial market research through to market launch (hereafter referred to as ‘P/S offerings’). 2.The core principles and practices of product management (aka product planning). 3.The issues that must be addressed in creating or modifying P/S offerings for diverse global markets, and common strategies employed by multinational firms to address these issues. This will help prepare students for management roles in preparing a company and its P/S offerings to enter diverse and challenging global markets.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion, the student will be able to:
- Explain the difference between products, services and product-service systems.
- Explain the interrelationship between business model design and P/S offerings design.
- Explain a typical end-to-end P/S offering development process (market research-to-launch), and the roles of the key product development functions in the organization.
- Explain the role of product management in the P/S offering development process.
- Explain the core principles of product management (for example, total product offer; end-to-end product lifecycle; platform engineering; minimum viable product).
- Explain the cultural, language, regulatory, economic, and other practical issues that must be addressed by P/S offerings in different global markets, and how typical multinational firms address these issues.
- Evaluate an existing P/S offering for compatibility with the requirements of a target market.
- Explain the role of platform engineering as a strategy for cost effectively creating P/S offerings for diverse global markets.
- Explain the most common mistakes made in developing P/S offerings for global markets.
- Explain the purpose of, and procedures for, P/S offering end-of-life (EOL) planning
