Course Overview
In this course, students acquire basic skills that they can apply in their work as refrigeration mechanics. Specific skills include learning how to properly recover refrigerant, charge, pressure test, evacuate, service and troubleshoot various types of refrigeration and Air Conditioning systems. Students also learn basic start-up procedures and periodic maintenance tasks and will work with a computer-based simulator program to perform troubleshooting tasks for commercial and supermarket equipment.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion, the student will be able to:
- Perform charging, recovery and recycling procedures/evacuation.
- Perform procedures on small unitary A/C systems.
- Perform procedures on commercial refrigeration system.
- Perform procedures on commercial refrigeration system, including:
- Basic start-up procedures.
- Periodic maintenance tasks.
- Troubleshoot small A/C units/commercial systems.
