- Apply knowledge of abnormal cardiac physiology and congenital heart defects to plan appropriate nursing care for children with cardiovascular conditions.
- Determine preoperative and postoperative care for a child with a cardiac defect, including implementation of evidence-based nursing interventions and provision of family centered care to support to promote optimal recovery and well-being.
- Use knowledge of pediatric anatomy and pathophysiology and comprehensive assessment to optimize oxygen supply and demand for a pediatric patient with congenital and acquired cardiovascular health challenges using case-based studies.
- Identify the unique considerations required when caring for pediatric cardiac patients with special behavioural, emotional, or mental health needs.
