Course Overview
In this course, students will develop the skills needed to create impactful packaging and label designs for a variety of industries. They will learn to use effective design techniques, typography, illustration, brand positioning and identification, color psychology, and photography to draw attention to products and drive sales. The course will cover print-ready file and 3D mockup creation using various software. Additionally, students will explore government regulations that affect design, environmental impacts, manufacturing constraints, and printing and reproduction processes.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Identify and apply unique requirements to packaging design projects.
- Create and develop packaging designs that effectively communicate a predetermined message and target a specific market through imagery, materials, and typography.
- Adapt designs to meet mechanical and reproduction requirements unique to packaging.
- Incorporate feedback effectively to ensure final designs meet client specifications and industry standards.
- Present ideas effectively using software to create 3D mockups from 2D designs.
- Design and construct accurate dielines for packaging that are ready for printing, ensuring compatibility with both commercial and digital printing processes.
- Differentiate between sustainable material options and make informed choices based on environmental certifications and industry standards.
