Course Overview
This course builds on the principles of non-linear editing which was introduced in BCST 2207 Introduction to Non-Linear Editing. The students will learn intermediate techniques of non-linear video editing. Students will learn how editing can be used to advance visual stories through the effects it has on the audience. Students will also develop technical skills in areas of assistant editing and media management, conversion, and export in a server-based, multiple-user post-production environment.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion, the student will be able to:
- Apply editing techniques, theory, and psychology to advance visual storytelling.
- Perform basic functions of an entry level Assistant Editor.
- Manage and manipulate media files efficiently and effectively including procedures for importing and exporting files and various video, media, and file format conversions.
- Create titles, basic title animations, and advanced effect layering.
- Utilize, at an entry level, industry tools such as waveform monitors, vectorscopes, video clamping and other effects to initiate the quality control process.
- Prepare media for audio and video post-production.
