Course Overview
This online workshop introduces fundamental cybersecurity concepts and their relevance to biomedical engineering daily activities in healthcare. With particular emphasis on cybersecurity fundamental needed for biomedical engineering professionals working in healthcare environment, this workshop refreshes networking concepts such as network hardware, OSI and network protocols, and network addressing. This workshop is suitable for biomedical engineering professionals who have basic computer network knowledge and need to safeguard medial device, patient information and organization's data from cyberattack.

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Explain the fundamental network concepts and terminologies relevant to BMET tasks
- Identify the common healthcare industry cybersecurity vulnerabilities and threats
- Describe the cyber attack's impact on the healthcare
- Identify regulations and standards around the cybersecurity governance
- Describe the NIST Cybersecurity frame work
- Describe the BME's roles in cybersecurity within healthcare organizations
- Apply cybersecurity best practices in daily BME tasks
- Effectively communicate with other professionals such as IT personnel and network administrator
