Course Overview
Provides students with the necessary skills to identify, safely use, and maintain basic tools used in measuring material shapes and sizes. These practices are commonly required for QC and QA in mechanical trades and engineering related to manufacturing or prototyping. The students will also be introduced to the use of a computerized coordinate measuring machine (CMM).

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Identify, safely use measuring tools.
- Select and maintain measuring tools.
- Use dimensional measurement.
- Measure internal and external diameters.
- Measure depth, slots and grooves.
- Measure angular surfaces and tapers.
- Measure spur gears.
- Use profile guages.
- Check surface finishes.
- Introduction to CMM.
