Course Overview
This math course and its counterpart, MATH 4943, concentrate on skills necessary for the teaching of applied math in mechanical, electronics, and general technology material at the secondary level. Topics include Imperial and SI units; percent; determining perimeters, areas, and volumes; solving various flow rate problems; manipulating linear expressions and equations.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Determine the accuracy and precision of measured values in problems, and use this information in appropriately rounding off calculation results.
- Calculate with Imperial or Systeme Internationale (metric) units.
- Solve linear equations and inequalities.
- Determine perimeters, areas, and volumes of the regular objects.
- Determine and simplify formulae for various perimeter, area, and volume situations from industry and trades.
- Solve various percentage, flow rate, relative velocity, mixture, and investment word problems.
