Course Overview
The course will examine the interior environment as it relates to human physical and psychological needs. The course of study will include an introduction to sustainable principles such as: LEED, Living Buildings, Biomimicry methodology, life cycle analysis and environmental concerns as related to commercial and residential interior design.

- 65% or better in INTD 2500 and all bridging courses.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion, the student will be able to:
- Cite examples of the principles of "Leeds" in the build environment.
- Create energy efficient solutions with lighting, HVAC and materials.
- Assess the physical and emotional requirements of a client.
- State the ergonomic requirements in commercial spaces.
- Identify the principles of universal design.
- Specify 'sustainable' materials for particular uses.
- Identify environmental factors that impact indoor air quality.
- Identify fabrics, weave, fibre types and their properties.
- Compare various materials for such things as inflammability, acoustical properties, physical properties, abrasion resistance and colourfastness.
- Create a complete set of construction documents for a given project which includes furniture specifications and recommended base building materials.
