Course Overview
This course prepares students for entry into the interior design industry. Students will establish an information platform base by researching interior design-related firms and interviewing prospective employers. Students with a 70% or better in all prerequisite courses will be assigning a work experience in a design office and will be required to perform and complete work-related tasks at the industry sponsor's regular place of business during office hours. Students will complete and document their findings of the firm’s operations in a report. This practical exposure will provide the students with an overall view of an interior design firm’s operations. Students who do not qualify for a work placement will conduct research and document the internal organizational profile for an established design firm in a report. A marketing information session will be conducted prior to their work practicum to prepare them for job interviews, and student portfolios and resumes will be reviewed.
