Course Overview
This course will provide students with a broad overview of International and Canadian legislation covering marine safety, pollution prevention, certification, inspections, maintenance, and emergency response enabling students to understand, interpret, and apply applicable marine laws.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to:
- Interpret and apply regulations of IMO, ILO, SOLAS, MARPOL, ISM, and STCW.
- Understand, interpret and apply the Canada Shipping Act, 2001.
- Interpret and apply the Canada Labour Code and Maritime Occupational Health and Safety Regulations.
- Interpret and apply the relevant sections of the Criminal Code of Canada.
- Interpret and apply the Canadian Regulations for Pollution Prevention.
- Interpret and apply the Canadian Regulations for Safety.
- Interpret and apply the Canadian Regulations for Marine Machinery and Inspections.
- Interpret and apply the Canadian Regulations for Certification and Crewing.
- Interpret and apply the Canadian Regulations for Emergency Response.
