Course Overview
Provides small craft operators and their crew about hazards associated with the marine environment; prevention of accidents and fires; fighting shipboard fires; abandoning ship; survival and rescue; maintaining a state of readiness for an emergency. This course is designed for Officers and Crew of small commercial vessels. It is also recommended for pleasure craft operators.

Learning Outcomes
At the end of this course, the student will be able to:
- List and describe the various hazards and emergencies and prevention strategies.
- Prepare for emergencies.
- Use the various types of lifesaving appliances.
- Explain the factors associated with sea survival.
- Identify each signaling device, their uses and characteristics.
- Describe the uses of rescue equipment.
- Inspect and maintain emergency equipment.
- Control passengers.
