Course details
In this hands-on course, students develop Web-based spatial applications using the Autodesk MapGuide Open Source framework and Studio, Autodesk's commercial authoring tool. The course also looks at related GIS technologies such as Web Mapping Services (WMS), Feature Data Objects (FDO), Oracle Spatial, and Google Earth. This is a non-programming course.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Describe the MapGuide Open Source Web architecture.
- Define MapGuide Open Source concepts such as feature sources, feature classes, and features.
- Explain the differences between the DWF and AJAX viewers.
- Explain the role of XML in MapGuide Open Source.
- Install and configure MapGuide Open Source.
- Import feature sources into Studio.
- Create and customize layers, maps, Web layouts, and print layouts.
- Perform administration tasks such as creating users, and importing/exporting MapGuide packages.
- Create text expressions to invoke URLs, and to create labels and tooltips.
- Import and export Web Mapping Services in MapGuide Open Source.
