Course details

This is a half day in-person (or remote if students cannot attend in person) introduction to the SEMAC/BCEM programs. It will be taught simultaneously in person and online using BCIT’s online learning platform. Students will be provided with an opportunity to BCIT's online learning format and tools, to get to know each other, learn introductory energy management concepts, and hear from industry leaders.

Prerequisite(s)

  • Acceptance into Sustainable Energy Management Program or Building Controls and Energy Management Program. Contact Program head at BCIT_SEMAC@bcit.ca or BCIT_BCEM@bcit.ca for approval.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Explain why the field of energy management exists.
  • Interact with classmates in development of project groups.
  • Observe Factor Four buildings and tools for use throughout the SEMAC program.
  • Log into and use BCIT online learning platforms in preparation for use in class.
