This course will give learners a basic knowledge of the history of the railways (evolution, interaction with other industries, modern organization structure) and main infrastructure aspects (track, railcars, locomotives and their maintenance, technological advancements).

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion, the student will be able to:
- Describe organizational (corporate) structure as it relates to railway operations.
- Describe railcars as they relate to railway operations.
- Describe locomotives as they relate to railway operations.
- Describe track and equipment as it relates to railway operations.
- Describe track maintenance as it relates to railway operations.
- Describe the evolution of technology used on Canadian railways.
