Upon successful completion, the student will be able to:
- Describe the drug development process.
- Discuss the factors leading to a successful drug development process, including:
- Compound/target screening
- Pharmacokinetics
- Pharmacoeconomics
- Discuss compound and target screening.
- Describe and differentiate the stages of the clinical trials process.
- Discuss the importance of the clinical trials process for the evaluation of new pharmaceutical products
- Describe how biotechnology is being applied to new drug development.
- Compare and contrast the roles of pharmacokinetics and pharmaeconomics in drug development.
- Discuss the current and future role of biotechnology in new drug development.
- Evaluate the ramifications of intellectual property in drug development.
