Course Overview
Construction planning guides the scheduling and coordination of logistics associated with the execution of mass timber projects. Students will review the main types of prefabricated mass timber products and consider the advantages and challenges of their use in mass timber construction. They will summarize the roles and activities of construction installers in the delivery, handling and installation of mass timber products in coordination with other stakeholders. They will review basic principles of rigging, crane and equipment use, and applicable regulations for overhead hoisting of mass timber products. Students will summarize guidelines and best practices for construction site safety, fall protection, and aerial equipment for installing mass timber structures.

- Describe the use of construction management schedules by installers.
- Identify logistical considerations for scheduling and coordinating the delivery and installation of mass timber projects.
- Read and interpret drawings and project documents for a mass timber project.
- Interpret the sequence and placement of mass timber structural components from shop drawings, digital models and project documents.
- Identify the structural components of a mass timber building.
- Describe the properties and roles of structural components in a mass timber building
