Course Overview
The course provides an introduction to geology. It includes an overview of basic geology, including plate tectonics, minerals, rocks, structural geology, geological time, and the geology of British Columbia and Canada. It discusses the development of landforms by surficial processes, such as weathering and erosion, and the related implications for exploration and environmental understanding. Laboratory exercises include the identification of common rocks and minerals, inspection and analysis of topographic and geological maps and a field trip to examine rock exposures in the field.
