Course Overview
Students will become familiar with two-dimensional drafting techniques and drafting terminology to produce construction plans, elevations and section drawings for interior design applications. Appropriate legends, schedules and cross-referencing will be covered and included in drawings. The focus will be on creating legible, accurate construction drawings using manual drafting techniques.

Learning Outcomes
At the end of this course the student will be able to:
- Create drawings using manual drafting equipment with a pencil.
- Identify various types of plans for interior design applications.
- Produce construction plans, power and communication plans, and reflected ceiling plans, showing appropriate dimensions and cross-referencing.
- Produce construction elevations, sections and details with appropriate cross-referencing shown.
- Produce construction drawings with appropriate legends, including partition legends, and schedules, including ones for doors, plumbing, and finishing work in both imperial and metric scales.
- Draw 'as-built' spaces.
- Explain reasons for the placement of stairs in a plan and the elevations used.
- Produce drawings using appropriate line weights, layout and lettering techniques.
- Cite appropriate sections of the Building Code of BC, including residential electrical codes.
