Course Overview
This course is an applied procedures course delivered in a simulated setting. Students will practice positioning for the procedures covered in MRAD 3410, Radiographic Procedures 3, while continuing to practice peer to peer feedback and self-reflection. Students will also build on their knowledge from previous courses including MRAD 1216, Applied Practice. For the skill competencies, students will focus on specialized examinations of the skeleton and joints, cranium and thoracic cage.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

- Use proper body mechanics.
- Interpret physician requests for patient examinations.
- Effectively communicate with the patient.
- Plan the examination based on patient needs and equipment limitations.
- Apply appropriate interview questions to ascertain patient's history and identity.
- Provide patient pre- and post procedural care instructions.
- Assess the patient's physical, mental, or psychological limitations and provide for alternate methods of achieving required images.
- Assess for confirmed pregnancy and respond.
- Provide patient care prior, during, and post examination.
- Align imaging systems to demonstrate required anatomical structures.
- Given a scenario, in an organized manner, accurately position the patient to demonstrate the required body anatomy of the following:
- cranium
- appendicular skeleton
- respiratory system
- thoracic cage
- Relate relational anatomy to external surface landmarks and bodily habitus to position the patient to demonstrate required structures.
- Demonstrate effective and efficient use of radiographic, accessory equipment.
- Accurately select, radiographic exposures on various equipment to account for patient variations such as habitus and pathologies.
- Maintain accurate and complete written and electronic documentation on a requisition.
