Course Overview
The goal of this course is to provide the student with an opportunity to work independently on an applied research project associated with a construction industry issue or procedure. Students work closely with an industry sponsor, under the mentorship of a faculty advisor to execute the research proposal that was developed in CMGT 8700. The students' pre-approved proposal outlines the project scope, goals, methods, and deliverables that forms the basis for this course. This course is intended to assess the students' ability to integrate the skills and knowledge gained from the Program with their individual work experience and apply these in a real-world context. In conjunction with an industry sponsor, the student solves a technical problem relating to construction. The research project must contain elements that are innovative, experimental, or exploratory in nature. A faculty advisor will supervise the progress of the project, provide guidance and direction where appropriate and evaluate the final report and its presentation. The faculty advisor submits their evaluation and the final grade is determined collaboratively with the Department.
