Independent Business Studies 2 BUSA 5031

This is the second of two courses that provides the opportunity to pursue independent studies in a particular area of interest in a business field. Students who have received credit for BUSA 5030 must either choose a new topic or demonstrate that any extension of the topic from BUSA 5030 can stand alone as a three credit course. The student and faculty supervisor determine the learning intentions, activities and evaluation strategies for the course. This course is equivalent to a typical 3 credit elective course at the degree level. The learning plan for the individual student should reflect the critical thinking, research and/or quantitative analysis associated with a degree level course. Students may apply this course to the elective requirements of their degree program. This course may be taken as part of a field study or exchange program for additional credits. In the case of exchange programs where transfer credits will be awarded, the student may take this course for additional credit as long as there are deliverables and learning outcomes in addition to those earned in the exchange program. This course can also allow the student to engage in applied research or field study where the student works with, and is supervised by, faculty and/or other researchers also engaged in a related research agenda or project.
