​​Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

• Describe the basic structure of Canada's healthcare system, including key legislation, determinants of health, and principles of equity in healthcare delivery.
• Evaluate diverse healthcare career pathways across multiple career clusters and develop a personalized career action plan aligned with individual interests, values, and strengths.
• Demonstrate basic patient-centred care principles, cultural safety practices, and equity considerations.
• Demonstrate basic professionalism and ethical decision-making for healthcare settings.
• Clinical Awareness & Safety Foundations. Demonstrate foundational clinical awareness, including basic vital sign interpretation, physical assessment principles, and infection prevention and control practices.
• Demonstrate therapeutic communication techniques with patients and effective interprofessional communication.
• Produce accurate healthcare documentation using appropriate medical terminology and professional standards.
• Evaluate health information sources for credibility, accuracy, relevance, and bias.
• Explain the general roles and responsibilities of common healthcare team members and describe how interprofessional collaboration contributes to safe, effective patient care.
• Analyze a type of healthcare technology or innovation for its impact on patient care, safety, and healthcare delivery.
