Course Overview
Through the medium of computer-aided drafting software, students continue to reproduce graphics examples from the civil engineering field. AutoCAD and other design software will be applied as a graphical tool to perform engineering modeling, solve civil engineering design problems, and produce design drawings. Applications in various civil engineering fields (municipal, structural, etc.) will be studied and investigated.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Produce engineering drawings using computer-aided drafting software. [5]
- Annotate drawings with more advanced text and dimensions commands. [5]
- Apply layers, line types and colours to enhance the presentation/appearance of drawings. [7]
- Employ knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit Structures to solve engineering design problems and perform engineering modeling. [5]
- Use blocks, attributes and external references to manage drawing files, organize design processes and collaborate with others. [5, 7]
- Create 3D objects and models. [5]
- Use AutoCAD and Revit 3D models to generate plans, elevations, and sections. [5, 7]
- Generate data (e.g. bill of materials, schedule of quantities and material takeoff) from 2D drawings and 3D models. [5]
- Use scanned images to facilitate the design process through accurate manipulation of rasterized data. [5]
- Transfer and exchange data between various engineering software packages. [5]
- Apply Building Information Modeling (BIM) concepts in engineering modeling and design. [5]
Effective as of Fall 2018
