Course Overview
Provides an overview of physical distribution, contracts and bills of lading, damage prevention and claims, dangerous goods transportation, marine cargo insurance, Canadian Customs, INCOTERMS and the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), transportation computer applications, Canadian transportation regulations, and an introduction to the field of logistics. A CITT fee is included to cover the cost of the CITT exam.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion, the student will be able to:
- Analyze the impact of Canada's national transportation laws on competition within and between the transportation modes;
- Apply the regulations affecting transportation operations both within Canada and from Canada to international destinations;
- Interpret transportation contracts;
- Select the most appropriate insurance for marine cargo;
- Apply Canada Customs regulations to importers and exporters;
- Prevent damage to goods and process cargo claims;
- Apply regulations to the movement of dangerous goods;
- Apply the principles of physical distribution to inventory;
- Explain how computer systems may be used to solve transportation problems;
- Identify the key features of the North American Free Trade Agreement, especially the impact on services;
- Appreciate the development of logistics; and
- Identify how changes in the logistics environment may affect the structure and operations of logistics systems.
