Course Overview
It is a requirement by Transport Canada and ILO that lifting appliances on board all vessels operating in Canadian waters, are approved, examined, tested, and certified by a competent person. This customized course provides guidance concerning procedures for the inspection of vessel pedestal cranes prior to operation, and briefly explains the routine operation of crane for cargo discharge by grabs.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to:
- Explain requirements of Canadian Tackle Regulations and ILO Convention 152 as applied to pedestal cranes.
- Briefly describe routine crane operation for cargo discharge by grabs.
- Demonstrate procedures and methods of cargo gear inspection prior to cargo operation.
