Course Overview
Introduces the fundamental concepts of Global Positioning System (GPS). Covers coordinate systems, datums, map projections, and accuracy and reliability of spatial data. Explores GPS resources available on the Internet. This course will be of interest to all outdoor enthusiasts who use GPS for navigation.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Define the components of the Global Positioning System.
- Explain how a GPS receiver calculates a position.
- Predict and assess the quality of GPS positioning.
- Define Geographic and Map projection coordinates.
- Operate a Leica GS-20 for navigation and data collection.
- Download and process GPS data using Leica GeoOffice software.
