This is a one-time option to extend for another 12-week term at a reduced tuition fee. Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion, the student will be able to:

  • Describe the relationship between 'Fire Prevention' and 'Fire Protection.'
  • Conduct inspections of various fire protection systems studied in this course.
  • Develop generic fire inspection forms for fire protection systems.
  • Develop fire extinguisher training to workers, supervisors and management.
  • Calculate the water flow and supply required to adequately supply an automatic sprinkler system under emergency conditions.
  • Recognize the difference smoke and heat detectors.
  • Develop an understanding how smoke and heat detectors work.
  • Develop an awareness of Automatic Fire Extinguishing Systems and their components and inspection, testing, and maintenance requirements.
  • Develop an awareness of the various types of sprinkler heads.
