Course Overview
This course will provide Building Managers and Owners the awareness and knowledge of Fire Safety Planning in British Columbia. Building Managers and Owners will learn about their responsibilities and legal requirements about fire safety planning (BC Fire Code). The building manager/owner will recognize the value of establishing a working relationship with the fire department to enhance the performance and compliance to legal requirements. Explores a wide range of topics; fire hazards in buildings, fire inspections & techniques, introduction to Fire Safety Plans (BC Fire Code), Fire Protection Systems and Ongoing Maintenance of Fire Protections and Fire Safety Plans requirements.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to:
- Describe the fire safety planning process.
- Explain building/owner responsibilities in fire safety planning.
- Recognize common fire hazards of a building.
- Apply the fire inspection techniques to explore and examine fire hazards of a building.
- Explain the Fire Safety Plan and the BC Fire Code requirements of a fire safety plan.
- Recognize various types of fire protection systems in their buildings.
- Describe the legal requirements and techniques to the ongoing maintenance of fire protection systems and fire safety plans.
