Course Overview
This course will provide the student with the basic skills in fire control in order for them to act as a member of a fire control crew. Students will learn to safely operate fire fighting hand tools, equipment, water delivery systems and decision aids used by the Ministry of Forests Protection and industrial crews.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Outline basic decision aids used in predicting fire behavior.
- Predict basic fire behavior using data related to fuel, weather and topography.
- Describe the importance of the fire prevention, detection, preparedness, assessment and suppression phases of fire control.
- Plan, direct and execute the construction of fire control lines including fire crew organization, supervision and safety on small fires.
- Safely operate basic fire control equipment on small fires, including fire pumps and hand tools.
- Describe the operation and safety practices required for the use of aircraft and heavy equipment in fire control.
- Obtain certification of the S-100 MOFR basic Fire skills course.
