Course Overview
Experiential design involves crafting spaces, events, and installations that engage and delight people through sensory, emotional, and intellectual experiences. This course teaches students to apply experiential design principles to create immersive and memorable experiences in both physical and digital environments. Key focus areas include way-finding systems, architectural graphics, signage, exhibit design, retail design, and themed or branded spaces. Through case studies and practical projects, students will develop skills in interactive design, multi-sensory integration, project management, and sustainability practices. The course also emphasizes innovation within constraints and effective collaboration in multidisciplinary teams, guiding students in creating impactful designs and evaluating their effectiveness.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Apply experiential and interactive design principles to create engaging interactive experiences that captivate and delight users in both physical and digital environments.
- Develop and execute design concepts that effectively communicate a clear message and engage audiences using a range of design techniques, including storytelling, interactive elements, and immersive technologies.
- Utilize project management skills to plan, coordinate, and implement large-scale experiential design projects, ensuring successful execution from concept to completion.
- Apply design thinking and problem-solving skills to overcome challenges and obstacles in the design process, ensuring innovative and effective solutions.
- Demonstrate proficiency in a variety of design tools and software essential for experiential design, including but not limited to graphic design and multimedia applications.
- Evaluate and critique experiential design projects by analyzing their design concepts, execution strategies, and overall impact on the audience.
- Integrate multi-sensory elements into design projects, considering how visual, auditory, tactile, and olfactory stimuli can be used to enhance the overall user experience.
- Explore and incorporate sustainability practices in experiential design, considering the environmental impact of materials and processes and promoting eco-friendly solutions.
- Collaborate effectively in multidisciplinary teams, leveraging diverse expertise and perspectives to enhance the design process and outcomes.
- Innovate within constraints by developing creative solutions under budgetary, spatial, or temporal limitations, demonstrating resourcefulness and adaptability.
